MISSION:
The Older Girl Advisory Board provides Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors the chance to serve as the council’s voice for girls in all areas of the Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois Council. This girl-led board will enhance the lives of all Girl Scouts through meetings, projects, and living by the Girl Scout Law. These young leaders will play a significant role in shaping the future of Girl Scout Council programs.
PURPOSE:
The group of girls selected will serve as an advisory board that will work with staff members to give insight and recommendations on future Girl Scout council programs. Members of the Older Girl Advisory Board will be given the opportunity to help plan and implement three council ran programs through out the year. Members will also have the chance to share ideas with the Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois council leadership. This board is designed to help influence decision-making processes in our Council.

Application Qualifications
- Enrolled in at least 6th grade
- Registered as a Girl Scouts at the time of application and throughout the time serving on the Board
- Interest in taking on a leadership role within the Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois Council
- Ability to communicate with your peers and adult leaders
- Ability to work well independently and on a team
- Committed to using technology as a platform for meetings, research and communication
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Meetings:
Available to commit to attend 5 meetings per year. The Advisory Board plans to meet monthly. Meetings will last one hour and will generally be held on weeknights. Meeting dates and times will be established based on the availability of the majority of the girls at the first meeting. The Advisory Board will vote on an Older Girl Advisory Board Chairman and Secretary at the first meeting of the year.
* Outside of Meetings:
Available to commit to an additional 2-4 hours per month to research or complete tasks outside of meetings. Advisory Board members will be invited to participate in projects, large council events and research beyond monthly meetings.
* Subcommittees:
Serve on subcommittees and attend subcommittee meetings as needed throughout the year. Subcommittees will be decided at the first meeting
